Diaoyutai State Guesthouse

Ancient Diaoyutai (literal translation: Fishing Pavilion) royal retreat, one of the famous historic gardens in the western suburbs of Beijing, is named after Emperor Zhangzong (1168 AD-1208 AD) of the Jin Dynasty built a pavilion for fishing here some 800 years ago.

In 1958, to host invited heads of state and government who came to Beijing attending the 10th anniversary of the Founding of the PRC, this famous ancient royal retreat was selected as the venue for a gardenstyle state guesthouse titled “Diaoyutai”. In 1959, shortly before the National Day, Diaoyutai State Guesthouse was inaugurated as an important venue for Chinese leaders conducting foreign affairs and state activities. To date, Diaoyutai State Guesthouse has welcomed more than 1,300 heads of state and government from around the world.

Through the development over a half century, Diaoyutai has formed its own “tasty and healthy” banquet cuisine, “exquisite and elegant” high touch service, “charming and royal” garden retreat and a praised as “national team level” crew of cook and service. The State Counselor H.E. Mr. Yang Jiechi once appraised the status of Diaoyutai State Guesthouse for diplomatic activities as “venue of significance, image of state and pride of nation”.

Diaoyutai State Guesthouse comprises two ancient compounds, one hotel and sixteen villas with different scale of functional halls for banquets and events. With an attitude of “chasing perfection” and quality service, we are welcoming friends from home and abroad.
