Venissa Wine Resort

New multi-site holiday accommodation on Burano, the ideal way to explore the Islands in the Venetian Lagoon and the excellences of Design Made in Veneto.

These new holiday houses on the Island of Burano are part of a project in collaboration with ten of the top local companies, offering an authentic experience in contact with the traditions and beautiful sights of Venezia Nativa, the original Venice.

Together with Torcello and Burano, the Island of Mazzorbo make up Venezia Nativa, the original Venice, and is home to the Tenuta Venissa estate. In this archipelago of nature, colours, flavours and art, there is the “Venissa walled vineyard”, where the Bisol family has recuperated the ancient Venetian Dorona grape variety.

The vineyard provides the backdrop for the starred restaurant, at Osteria Contemporanea, and the guestrooms of the Wine Resort, making Venissa the ideal choice for a holiday on the lagoon, enjoying relaxation and good cooking.

This year the project sees further evolution with inauguration of new holiday homes on the island of Burano. These are dotted all over the island, in different buildings, allowing visitors to really experience the village atmosphere and get to know the locals, many of whom still today work in the island’s typical crafts, such as fishing and lace-making.

Venissa guests can stay in one of the rooms in the manor house on the Venissa estate on the Island of Mazzorbo, or in one of the holiday homes on the Island of Burano. The Bisol family has in fact renovated some of the typical coloured cottages that used to be the homes of lace-makers and fishermen, in collaboration with local craftsmen and ten of the top companies in North-Eastern Italy, referred to as Triveneto.

The entrance halls have mosaic tile floors by Orsoni, the only furnace in Venice still active today, for years artisan producers of the world’s most important mosaics. The floors upstairs are in Itlas wood, made with the same planks from the Piave region as those used in the past to build the Serenissima naval fleet. The most important pieces of furniture are manufactured by icon design companies in Triveneto, such as: Moroso, an Udine-based company which collaborates with some of the greatest international designers; Arclinea, producers in Vicenza of innovative kitchens combining natural materials and cutting-edge technology; Trend, also based in Vicenza, which makes modern-style mosaics; Glass 1989, an Oderzo-based company, leader in design and production of wellbeing solutions; Panto, whose windows frame the views and colours of the houses on Burano; FontanaArte, the historic lighting company that is part of the Nice Group, with headquarters in Oderzo; Bolzan Letti, a Treviso-based company that teams design and craftsmanship; and Vimar, which has brought its technology and home automation solutions to Venissa to ensure Wine Resort guests have an even more enjoyable stay.

These companies have believed in this project and contributed to the creation of what is actually a showroom for living in.

All this shows the love of the Bisol family for its homeland, not only through wine and cooking, but also through the finest Made in Italy design.

Venissa guests can also experience and discover the territory by participating in activities such as a course of “voga alla veneta”, or Venetian-style rowing, thanks to the collaboration with “Remiera di Burano” the local rowing school instructors, workshops with the island’s photographers, or fishing trips with fishermen of the cooperative.

Venissa believes in real tourism that enables discovery of the traditions and beautiful sights of Venezia Nativa, a little corner of paradise in one of the world’s most visited UNESCO world heritage sites: the Venetian lagoon.
