The project of the Verbania Theatre

The project for the new city of Verbania Theatre develops an architectural complex, a contemporary character, sculptural and highly expressive, able to contener a large room for five hundred places, small room for two hundred, a large entrance foyer and distribution, service functions and support, dressing rooms, offices, rehearsal rooms, bar, restaurant and a panoramic terrace for shows to the lake.

The building is located along the coast of Lake Maggiore at the river mouth of San Bernardino in the vicinity of the historic Villa Maioni, seat of the Civic Library, in a panoramic position with views to the surrounding landscape, redefining a new area configuration relation to the presence of the lake, the beach and the Villa.

The project includes the works of accommodation outside the area immediately adjacent to the new theater building that allow to extend the intervention to the surrounding context and also create an outdoor entertainment space.

The outer tiers allow large panoramic visibility of the lake in all directions, a better connection with the beach, with tourist activities, bathing.

This area will be to support the holding of events and outdoor events in the presence of a large number of spectators, also partially located within the building.

The new building is placed front side of the lake, with panoramic view, with view to the surrounding landscape and continuity between inside and outside. Considering dell'affaccio Lake, the foyer coverage is defined by a slight staircase intended as the rooftop terrace where you can go out and enjoy the surrounding views.

The set is a contemporary cultural center and connected to the external arrangement and the green landscape of the place where the building, is the catalyst for redevelopment of a much broader area than is directly linked to the theater, urban renewal and landscaping at the same time.

For the outside accommodation have been privileged the environmental engineering solutions with the use of geotextiles and fascinate for the containment of slopes, integrated with planting of native species and for the construction of bleachers and to contain gradients, they are employed gabion network metal filled with local stone pebbles. Above the gabions it was

fixed a plate gneiss, sawn, with a mechanical locking, to allow the user session.

The connectors between the height differences are resolved with steps of granite blocks (which also covers a marker lighting).
