Zinc shingles in NedZink NOVA

Wonderfully colourful 'skin' of the NedZink NOVA diamond-shaped shingles

This gorgeous villa on the periphery of Gouda underwent a complete metamorphosis. The sombre, 1960s skin was shed and replaced by a modern, well-equipped home with a futuristic look and feel that is sure to last a lifetime. Architect Jeroen Blok from Blokvorm Architectuur in Gouda made good use of the existing shapes and added new lines in concrete and steel. For the design of the renovation, he specifically opted for natural materials and the dance between sleek and organic, so that the home is in complete harmony with its natural surroundings. For example, NedZink NOVA diamond-shaped shingles were used as an iconic element, emphasises the architect Blok. “NedZink NOVA’s patina not only creates a lovely transition from the mortar and the sleek stucco; the shingles themselves add extra texture to the façade, creating the impression of a wonderfully colourful, scaly ‘skin’. Much more interesting and more varied than traditional stucco because the zinc shingles are mounted to a curved wall, which creates a fabulous play of shadows. The owners wanted a low-maintenance house, which is why I spent a long time looking for just the right material. I definitely hit the bullseye with NedZink NOVA.”
