Extraordinay garden house
Behind a house in Oegstgeest (The Netherlands) you will find an extraordinary garden house/annex/garage constructed from ‘pure, sustainable materials’ as architect Pieter Koningsveld from USE architects in Utrecht likes to describe it. The eye is immediately drawn to the beautiful colour combination of narrow, horizontal Accoya wood slats and wide, vertical NedZink NOVA sheets, expertly installed by zinc master Ridder Skins for Buildings Noord. “By pulling one corner of the new construction ‘forwards and upwards’ you get a wonderful, spacious garden room with a slanting, ascending, twisted roof,” reveals Pieter Koningsveld with enthusiasm. “The extension is just like an apple with a bite taken out of it: the NedZink NOVA façade with its striking deep grey patina is the skin, the light-coloured Accoya slats resemble the inside revealed by the bite. Since nuance dictated the overtone, we opted for a ventilated hook system of NedZink NOVA instead of folding. As a result, the garden house is exceptionally smooth and subtly detailed.”
