NAB VILLAGE CIC BY WOODS BAGOT

A collaborative community space completes National Australia Bank's new headquarters

International architecture firm Woods Bagot designed National Australia Bank‘s new headquarters in Melbourne. As part of the new structure, an innovative approach to customer service was created. The Village Customer Innovation Center is an interactive and informal space where NAB’s community and customers can connect, collaborate and share ideas.

Meant to be dynamic and fluid, the space consists of drop-in desk spaces, meeting areas and informal areas for chatting and catching up. Simon Pole, Principal at Woods Bagot, explains, “We wanted to have fun with the design of these pop-up spaces, encouraging group collaboration and creativity for NAB’s customers and community. Transformable spaces, a mix of furniture, graphics and artwork were all part of the design strategy to draw people in and experience co-working.”

Woods Bagot included a mix of open and closed spaces, allowing users to choose the environment most suited to their needs and goals. The combination is meant to foster an entrepreneurial spirit, while providing access to the expertise of the NAB community – a concept not unlike the Neuehouse in New York. Each space can also be booked and branded by members of the NAB community.
