MILL VALLEY CABINS BY FELDMAN ARCHITECTURE

A hyphen between nature and the people

When an artist wants to settle in the woods and build a house there, you can be sure his or her intention isn’t to adapt the surroundings to his needs but more to blend in and observe. Be part of the eco-system living around and pull energy out of it. That’s probably what Feldman Architecture‘s client wished and asked of the architecture firm. The answer were these two beautiful wooden cabins. The two buildings were added to the existing hill side home as an art studio and a yoga space. Blending in was implied and well understood. The two cabins were placed between trees, oriented toward different views and were meant for different purposes: one for art, the other for yoga. They have been designed with an arched roof that pulls natural light inside. The upper building faces the roof of the lower cabin that has been planted with a garden. This way, both buildings are connected to each other and to the surrounding forest. It is like a hyphen between nature and the people that live here. And it’s also a great place to garden!
