LOFTCUBE BY STUDIO AISSLINGER

Stunning view and luxurious interior for this prefab suite

Iconic Hotel Daniel in Graz, Austria, is about to welcome a new wave of visitors. The reason is a small but noticeable addition to its roof: a luxurious prefab suite called the LoftCube, designed by Berlin-based Studio Aisslinger. It might have a wonderful interior and stunning views of the various landmarks of the town, but the real intrigue is elsewhere.

What makes the LoftCube fascinating is the fact that it successfully mixes two architectural trends while still remining interesting. First, the suite exploits the now-popular concept of prefabricated structures. They are easy to install, light and usually cost effective. The funny thing about these lightweight structures is that they’re so easy to move, they can also be put on the roof of tall buildings! Which brings us to the second trend that Werner Aisslinger and his team have used here.

The LoftCube idea also adopts the concept of establishing rooftop living in high-rise buildings around the world. The resulting effect is one of freedom and power. In the end, this structure is both independent from and totally reliant upon the Hotel Daniel. But what really matters most is that view…
