RÉSIDENCE LAJEUNESSE BY NATUREHUMAINE

A Canadian remodel that brings out the best of an existing structure

True to their name, NatureHumaine constructs human-oriented buildings. The Résidence Lajeunesse in Montreal was built by the client’s grandfather and had been in the family for three generations. The young couple wanted to combine what was two separate apartments into a single, modern, multi-level space with lots of natural light. However, due to a busy street to the south, the main living areas were situated on the northern side, making it a challenge to brighten the whole space. The solution? A double height lightwell topped with a skylight that allows light to permeate the structure. The architects finished the home with clean wood, white walls and cleverly integrated furniture to create a simple and warm home for two.
