L23 HOUSE BY PITAGORAS ARQUITECTOS

One more reason to love Portugal

Lately, you might have seen that we have done a few projects involving a slope and a house that would blend in beautifully, perfectly fitting its geographical situation. This time, we’ve decided to talk about a house where things have been done a little differently. The slope is still there, but it has been integrated to the house and not the other way around. The common element is that main entrance is at ground level at the top, and it becomes a second storey as the slope descends. But the L23 House integrates the gentle pitch in a well-protected inner courtyard, organizing its space around the topography.

The house itself is not bad either! It is situated on a sort of promontory over the city, hence having an amazing view. It mixes dark concrete and zinc with light wood floors to create a perfect balance and generate a soothing atmosphere inside. Both levels perpendicularly cross each other, creating protected openings all over the place, and a complex yet logical organization of the living space. One more reason to go to Portugal!
