JOHANNES TORPE STUDIOS CREATES SIMPLE, COZY SPACE FOR COPENHAGEN RESTAURANT

A paleo-inspired restaurant that is making healthy look good

Palæo, a fast food chain in Copenhagen that serves healthy food with fresh, unprocessed ingredients, has a new design created by Johannes Torpe Studios. Inspired by the simplicity of the paleo diet and lifestyle, the space’s design used raw materials such as leather, wood, stone, brass and wool, which provide a sense of hygge – a Danish word referring to coziness established by environments and social situations. The space is comprised of a seating area separated from a warm, welcoming lounge area, as well as different workstations behind the bar for the various stages of food preparation. A muted color palette merges with the natural materials to create a comfortable environment; this toned-down scheme also allowing the colors of the fresh foods to take the stage. It is hoped that the simple, relaxed atmosphere achieved through the space’s design with make it easy for the restaurant to expand to other locations in the future.
