HUESO RESTAURANTE BY CADENA+ASOCIADOS

10,000 bones decorate the unique interior of this Guadalajara restaurant

Located in Guadalajara, Mexico, Hueso is the concept restaurant of Alfonso Cadena. The 1940s contemporary building in which the restaurant is housed was recuperated and revived by Cadena+Asociados.

True to its name, which means “bone” in Spanish, the interior of the restaurant is adorned with thousands of collected bones. The bones are mounted on textured white walls and placed amongst white objects, cultivating a decor that is more organic and harmonious than macabre – a sort of textured landscape that envelops the interior and adds subtle intrigue.*

The exterior of the building is also clad in white. Ceramic tiles marked with thin lines and dashes make reference to sewing patterns and stitches. The graphic design also seems to create a sharper, more literal contrast to the primitive patterns the interior.

The completely open kitchen also becomes part of the interior. Reclaimed wooden tables create a dialogue with the tree trunk in the restaurant courtyard. They also provide a community aspect and continuity with the organic decor.
