HAFFENDEN HOUSE BY PARA ARCHITECTS

Oh la la. What IS Jon Lott trying to do to us here? Architects!

An artist’s paradise. How nice to have a designated area to escape the pandemonium of city life! PARA architects, under Jon Lott’s direction, have given a new look to an older concept: Gianni Pettena’s Ice House from 1972. This architectural project of three levels includes a writing studio with a garage/breezeway at ground level, library and writing space on the second level, and a curved/soft reading room on the third level. With a translucent silicon-impregnated fabric skin, the writing room is filled with light without any visual distractions of the outdoor chaos. To control the level of privacy desired by the owners, a fabric solution was selected for the interior curtain. The outer appearance of the structure mingles well with various environments, whether it be surrounded by snow or lined with a deep blue sea. The inner spaces are devoted to a sense of complete peace, and who wouldn’t enjoy an afternoon in that hot tub, a glass of wine and book in hand? Sign me up!
