DM HOUSE BY STUDIO GUILHERME TORRES

A multicolored cabinet sets the tone for a Brazilian renovation

Brazilian architect Guilherme Torres makes magic in the form of architecture. Okay, we might be exaggerating slightly, but there’s something that certainly feels magical about the renovated DM House in São Paulo, Brazil.

Created for a couple based in London that had decided to come home to Brazil, all of the collaboration was done via Skype. Slowly, the project transformed from simply interior design to a full-scale renovation.

The bright color pattern was the owner’s proposition. The colorful lacquered cabinets take the design from attractive to certified eye candy and serve as the starting point for the home’s Pantone-worthy pallet.

As part of the renovation, the architect completely reinvented the space, placing the children’s bedrooms and play area on the ground level and creating a living room and kitchen in what was previously the basement. Gardens and a swimming pool were also added on the basement level to create a lush and agreeable central living space.
