OAD projects luxury wanda vista xishuangbanna resort

chinese studio OAD office of architecture and design celebrated the recent inauguration of the wanda vista xishuangbanna resort located on a lush mountainside in the southernmost city of yunnan province in china.

the luxury complex includes 151 villas, conference center, spa, pagodas and accompanying amenities. the architecture relies heavily on the traditional chinese forms that historically shaped the landscape. walls of stone and roofs of wood forming a series of structures that elegantly blend the contemporary with the vernacular. the various buildings that make up the resort are laid out to re-create the same quaint feel of the neighboring cities, secluded within the forest environment. outdoor gardens and courtyards provide spaces for gathering, meditation, or exploration throughout the site.
