indoor swimming pool in seville by fernando suarez corchete

in constantina, a spanish municipality located in the province of seville, local architect fernando suarez corchete has designed an indoor swimming pool that seeks to integrate with its surrounding context.

standing as a landmark building that greets visitors to the town, the scale and coloration of the structure relates closely to the neighborhood’s existing urban fabric.

chamfered edges soften the junction with street, while the façade comprises a series of cement boards similar in tone to surrounding buildings. at the center of the plan, a landscaped garden acts as a buffer zone between the building and the passing road. the scheme is topped with an artificially greened roof, with photovoltaic panels providing a percentage of the pool’s running costs.
