food & art intersect in W montréal's être avec toi restaurant

located on the ground floor of the W montréal, is a unique restaurant that blurs the line between acclaimed eatery and avant garde gallery. ‘être avec toi’ is the result of collaboration between MASSIVart (curation by arthur gaillard), W montréal, BPC, sid lee architecture, and ivanhoé cambridge.

the restaurant’s interior is a celebration of the creative diversity of the canadian city, and features tailor-made pieces exclusively created by locally-based artists (both established and up-coming). ‘être avec toi’ features tables by jason wasserman, murals by WIA & stikki peaches, booths by jason cantoro, and windows by scaner. the establishment has something else up its sleeve as well. visitors will have the unique opportunity to view live working sessions (until february 19th, 2016) of artists alan ganev, botkin, bonar, and labrona.

however, even an well designed restaurant won’t hold up if it doesn’t have a kitchen to match; luckily W montréal has all bases covered. new york-based alan ashkinaze (formerly of waldorf astoria) was named head chef, and will be joined by executive chef sébastien giannini (formerly of fairmont queen elizabeth in montréal, and le méridien in nice, france). in addition, a selection of 200 international bottles will be available thanks to efforts of bar director simon faucher and cocktail extraordinaire eben klemm.
