CASA22 in Brazil is a light-filled interactive home for a family of ten

The light-filled CASA22 in Brazil is a perfect home and playground for a large family of seven adults and three children. Designed by Hola Arquitetura, the house acts as a versatile space that can accommodate a variety of activities, from parties and barbecues, to gardening and outdoor recreation for kids and couples.

The 3229-square-feet house is located on a grassy lot in Brazil’s Xangri-Lá prefecture. Its simple geometry is based on two cubes— a translucent one, enveloping an interactive living space with social areas and a garden, and a massive block above that brings privacy to the bedrooms. To ensure maximum transparency on the ground floor, the architects chose to work with inverted beams and relied on the large stone wall at the back for additional support.

Two living spaces and two separate dining areas are complemented by a large garden, while four spacious suits occupy the top floor. The kitchen with a large laurel wood dining table function as an extension of the living room. Adjustable wooden louvers that provide both privacy and natural light to the bedroom areas dominate the east-facing facade of the upper floor and bring warmth to the exterior.
