Mecenate 79
Aircraft facilities that beautifully transformed into a modern and accessible multi-purpose center.
Mecenate 79 is a project of transformation of the Caproni in a multi-purpose center with commercial activities , hotel, manufacturing and leisure . The area of 30,000 square meters , which since the 30s has accepted the company's activities Caproni aircraft, it is almost entirely covered by brick industrial buildings .
The original architectural character has been preserved , along with a valuable internal road network and perimeter . The project includes a "neighborhood" modern and accessible by users and the public, the quality of which is the result of a great balance between tradition and modernity . Hangar and historical pavilions , along with three new buildings and outdoor spaces rearranged , achieve a sub- unit . Among the buildings the largest is the Hangar with a structural span of nearly 40 meters , size needed for assembly of the aircraft Caproni , which can become a multifunctional space of about 7,800 square meters. The new buildings , three volumes plain and simple that identify the area from distance , match the curtains brick pure geometric forms , whose double skin of glass is transparent and translucent elements . The hotel is the tallest building , spread over 10 floors, while the other two towers with 8 floors house the residence. The street in front of Maecenas consists of a glass gallery with businesses, whose transparency " reveals " the original buildings . With the new features , the internal road becomes an urban pedestrian street in the center with a covered square , consisting of a pre-existing shed , which leads to the hotel.
The new neighborhood is so permeable than the city with paths and crossings longitudinal and transverse , all trails, which wind through new activities and tree-lined spaces . Under the main buildings and under the internal road are planned underground parking , accessible by car from the perimeter roads and connected to the system of pedestrian paths .
