#RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURE PROJECTS

This colorful Belgian apartment has beds built right into the walls!

Providing a fresh atmosphere, VAN STAEYEN Interior Architects created a chic apartment interior.

Belgian architecture studio, VAN STAEYEN Interior Architects, converted two bedrooms with a bathroom in between into a modern sleeping area inspired by an alpine chalet. The project, entitled MAT, utilizes every available inch of the rooms and includes additional storage spaces and built-in beds. The rooms were designed as mirrored spaces of one another and use bright, inviting colors to create a welcoming atmosphere.

The rooms were designed as mirrored spaces with one of them inside the chalet, while the other one faces it. The chalet protrudes outside in one of the rooms, while protruding into the other room. “In one bedroom we created a large, really deep cupboard in which a queen size bed is inducted. The pine veneer makes the space at the same time warm and open in relationship with the white walls. As if you were in the Alps”, explained the designers.

In order to recreate the atmosphere of a chalet, the architects used birch forest wallpaper. The beds can be accessed via a sliding drawer. Brightly-colored details bring an element of cheerful mood and act as spatial references. Thanks to a large mirror and wall-and-ceiling tiling, the bathrooms look spacious and comfy.
