A Church in the Netherlands has been converted into a house of coffee worship

An 18th-Century abbey in the Netherlands has been transformed into a center of worship for caffeine and great conversation.

Located in the hamlet of Abshoven in the Dutch province of Limburg, the Brasserie Abshaove cafe now offers lattes and sandwiches instead of liturgy and sermons.

Originally belonging to the abbey farm of Val-Dieu, this complex was comprised of a manor house and barn, which eventually grew into a full-fledged monastery in the early 1900s.

In 2011, a developer signed an agreement with the local municipality to restore the chapel as well as the English garden that surrounds it, and it was from this agreement that the new cafe took form. The new brasserie has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and the high stone walls are ideal for showcasing paintings created by local artists. The chapel area has been transformed into a cozy lounge filled with plush, semi-circular couch benches, and the enormous windows flood the cafe with soft, natural sunlight, emphasizing the beauty of its brick walls and wooden furniture..
