hawkins\brown masterplans the city of london freemen's school in surrey

Shortlisted for a RIBA south east award 2015, the initial stage of the masterplan of the city of london freemen’s school in surrey has been completed by the architects at hawkins\brown.

the campus will include a new boarding house with a specialized music school containing practice rooms and a recital hall. situated on a historic grade II* listed grounds where the co-educational day and boarding school will include a brand new music school alongside state-of-the-art teaching and IT facilities. within the music building, the 200-seat performance hall incorporates two levels of seating where the walls are cladded in timber panels punctuated with small holes- improving acoustic properties. composed of primarily brick and timber, the educational campus is surrounded by grass fields, each building connected by a paved path meanwhile the 60-bed boarding house both have direct access to an external courtyard.
