The Azerbaijan pavilion at Milan Expo 2015 is a three-level structure flanked by wavy timber louvers, constructed from a modular system made out of recyclable materials.

Three Italian design firms- Simmetrico Network, Arassociati Architecture, and landscape architecture studio AG&P-designed the structure as an amalgam of different biospheres placed in large globular structures made from glass and metal.

The structure is based on a modular system that can be reconfigured to accommodate different content reflecting the extensive climatic biodiversity and cultural aspects of Azerbaijan. The first biosphere focuses on geographical landscapes of the country, the second showcases the nine geographic climatic zones of Azerbaijan, and the third is dedicated to traditional culture and innovation. All three levels, including the upper level with an elegant restaurant and terrace, are connected by escalators to three different biospheres.

The sides of the pavilion are created using highly flexible wood over an area measuring 887 square meters, with the north side more open for natural ventilation. At the end of the exposition, the pavilion will be dismantled and moved to Baku.
