leeser architecture combines nature + urbanism with luxury shopping mall in bangkok

bangkok has a new addition to their array of luxury shopping malls across the city with EM quartier by new york based firm leeser architecture.

the expansive retail complex is an accumulation of three new buildings with one being a renovation, all of which consisting of a diverse variety of mixed-use retail space, dining and entertainment.

the resulting scheme is a cross between nature and urbanism, where the building hopes to evoke the synthesis of beauty and unexpectedness found between the two elements. distinguished by the shifting floorplates, each level is unique in form. however, this approach makes space for outdoor terraces and ‘floating gardens’ seen through. the layered levels and curvilinear nature of the structure effects the interior layout, a central, circular atrium punctuates through the whole space and circulation revolves around. along with the abundance of green space, both inside and out, the six-storey building is centered around the bangkok sky train, making it accessible from all areas of the city.
