35 hudson yards: explore plans for the NYC development's tallest residential tower

new images have been revealed of the 92-story skyscraper currently under construction as part of new york’s hudson yards development.

designed by david childs, chairman emeritus of architecture firm SOM, ‘35 hudson yards’ will include 143 for-sale residences as well as an extensive suite of private programming. the soaring limestone and glass structure will contain 22,000 square feet of luxury amenities including state-of-the-art health and fitness facilities.once complete in 2019, the tower will be hudson yards’ tallest residential building, offering all-encompassing views of the hudson river and the manhattan skyline. while the skyscraper has been designed by david childs, the SOM architect behind one world trade center, the project’s interiors have been developed by anthony ingrao, the principal of design and architecture firm ingrao. meanwhile, an array of in-building lifestyle services will be provided by the world’s first equinox hotel. as with the rest of the site, 35 hudson yards is being developed by related companies and oxford properties.

‘our tower, 35 hudson yards, with its combination of retail, office, hotel and residential uses, is a city within hudson yards, exactly in the way hudson yards itself is a full mixed-use city within manhattan,’ says david childs. ‘hudson yards is a totally unique space,’ adds tony ingrao. ‘it provides a complete lifestyle experience that is integrated into a spectacular urban setting while being connected to the innovative high line park with water views.’

a suite of amenity spaces spans the entire 6th floor, including a fitness center that is outfitted with equipment for the exclusive use of residents and their trainers. it offers a stretching and yoga studio and a private and serene meditation room. additional amenities on the floor include a corner lounge with billiard table, golf simulator lounge with minibar, boardroom and private office suites, screening room, library, private dining room and children’s playroom.

meanwhile, the 24th floor offers the west-facing grand terrace and grand dining room, an expansive event space that can host seated events for more than 50 guests. the project also includes a new restaurant concept by stephen starr with in-residence dining. sales for 35 hudson yards will begin on march 15, 2019, with residences priced starting at $5 million.

currently under construction, hudson yards is the largest private real estate development in the history of the united states, and the largest development in new york city since rockefeller center. the masterplan aims to expand the midtown manhattan business district westward towards the hudson river with residential space, office towers, retail outlets, a collection of high-end restaurants, a new center for artistic invention, and a luxury hotel with more than 200 rooms. take a look at designboom’s ongoing coverage of the development — which is set to partially open to the public on march 15, 2019 — here.
