A Nautical Inspired Building Designed For A Marina In France

PietriArchitectes have designed the Harbour Master’s office, at a marina in La Londe-les-Maures, France. The form of the building is reminiscent of a cruise ship or ferry boat.

The designer’s description

Located along the Var coast, opposite the fort Brégançon, the harbor master of La Londe-les-Maures enjoys an exceptional location.

The project is organized in three trays, operating independently and replaces an existing aging and inappropriate building.

The ground floor, serves business-like spaces (tickets, distributor), associations (fishing club, diving club, yacht club) and public (cloakroom, WC).

These spaces are open to the harbor by large windows. The first level includes a meeting room and a dining room offering views over the landscape.

The second level is a large reception terrace, accessed by emergency stairs placed outside.

The architectural proposal is simple, in the continuity of the agency’s work: sleek shapes, softened angles and materials nobles such as wood and stainless steel in reference to the world sailor, always avoiding the metaphor of the boat .
