VR TAPALPA HOUSE BY ELIAS RIZO ARQUITECTOS

Another proof Latin America is one step ahead

It looks like the future of architecture is in Latin America… Brazil, Peru, Chile and now Mexico! Great houses are rising fast on the continent. And we can notice that one thing remains throughout the various projects: the balance between modern design and traditions. The VR House is another example of this statement. The architects wanted the building to be outstanding while fully integrated to its environment. This is why its stark geometry has been materialized with local materials and rustic finishes. This combination underlines the contradiction we mentionned above but it even goes further. We can indeed find another duality in the conception of the VR House.

While the two axes cross and go their own way, they seem to point out this house has another secret that can explain its successful integration with its surroundings: the VR House is both open and closed. Indeed, the house looks like a real fortress from the outside with its opaque façade. But once inside, it is incredibly open with ample views and a patio. The result is a sensation of perfect balance and a house fully merging with the environment.
