SEASONLESS HOUSE BRINGS PERSONAL DESIGN TO A DOMESTIC SETTING

A translucent home on the coast by Spanish architects Casos de Casas

Located in Vinaròs in Spain’s Castelló region, Seasonless House was built in 2013 by Casos de Casas in collaboration with Irene Castrillo Carreira and Mauro Gil-Fournier of Esquerra Arquitectos.

The white 361.0 square meter house encourages personal design of the climate for increased domesticity, with the inhabitant controlling certain aspects of the environment. Among the house’s features are double walls of cellular polycarbonate, simple filters of undulated polycarbonate, interlocking metallic tiles, agro-textiles and different types of glass, which promote natural light, airflow and heat efficiency.

The design of Seasonless House is inspired by local urban planning trends as well as the two primary seasons of the Mediterranean region in which it is situated. The interplay between the house and the surrounding landscape is equally important, with a large “playground” taking shape where house and terrain meet. The exterior of the house also serves as a vantage point from which one can observe and connect with one’s surroundings without being observed.
