RESIDENCE IN PAPUDO BY RAIMUNDO ANGUITA

Contemplative architecture facing the ocean

Latin America is definitely getting more attractive every day. After Brazil and Peru, Chile got our attention with the Residence in Papudo. This house is here to remind us that some architectural constructions have it all: the view and the ideas. This residence’s location on the central Chiliean coast is unique. With 3000 m², the property follows the seashore, thus embracing a large panoramic view on the ocean. But again, this is not the only asset of this house.

If the roof curves and takes the shape of a wave, giving the general aspect of the house a nice dynamic, the most interesting part is the whole situation of the Residence. The house is built directly into the earth, so the ground floor ceiling is at the same level as the garden. This gives the impression that the house is hidden underground, although when inside we’re actually just at the perfect level to fully embrace the view. On the side which doesn’t face the ocean, the central courtyard creates an opening, which brings morning sunlight throughout the interior. Quickly linking all of these elements creates a synergy between the house and its environment. This Residence in Papudo is a large space dedicated to contemplation.
