Travertine and urban renovation: Piazza Galeazzi in Central Italy

Urban renovation sometimes takes curious and unexpected ways to express itself.

It happened in the renovation project for Piazza Galeazzi in Grosseto, in Central Italy, by Architect Massimo Gualtieri.

What’s most original in his design idea is the creation and enhancement of the continuum between the public square and the overlooking church, and our travertine pavers had a major role in this.

The silhouette of the Chiesa del Sacro Cuore’s pronaos was projected and drawn on the square’s floor using our light-colored travertine and porphyry: an interesting doubling operations that gives a strong personality to this renewed public space, given back to the community thanks to the new trees and to the new urban furnishing elements in travertine we supplied: our bench Slim and Three, our recycling bin.
