HOUSE VDV BY GRAUX & BAEYENS ARCHITECTEN

A Belgian residence with a color-changing exterior

Located near Ghent, Belgium, House VDV is a distinctive residence created by Graux & Baeyens Architecten. The residence is at once rustic and modern with its form is not unlike a traditional barn or farmhouse. However, it integrates purely modern geometry through large angles that cut into the structure and are completed with glass walls. The interior remains thoroughly modern.

Rather than static and unchanging , House VDV is, in some ways, temporal. Clad in untreated copper, the house will gradually change from a a reddish brown to a bright turquoise, completely changing its presence.

Finally, the house was placed in the center of the lot, with no defined front or back, but rather a 360° experience of the surrounding garden.
