HLM RENOVATES LONDON OFFICE INTERIOR FOR SCREENWORKS
An interior renovation in North London that incorporates the building's industrial heritage
HLM, a multidisciplinary design and architecture firm, has renovated the interior of a North London building for ScreenWorks, an office that provides space for budding entrepreneurs and new business launches. Originally used to manufacture some of the earliest radios and televisions, the building’s industrial heritage was worked into the new design with vintage television sets, exposed vents and electrical wiring set against a concrete backdrop. Soft, subtle Nordic furniture takes the edge off of the industrial decor and adds a modern touch without ruining the heritage elements.
The office is divided into different spaces with a ground floor reception, four themed meeting rooms and an independently run café, all of which complement the four upper storeys of more than 100 offices ranging in size from 20 to 96 square meters. The offices are a blank canvas that, once rented, can be decorated as desired.
Emerging businesses have a 24-hour, drop-in “Club Workspace” that is open plan and has WiFi and communal printers The meeting rooms include an 80s game show room, a 20s Room, a 50s Room and the Misled room, which features a bespoke worktop designed by illustrator Miss Led. HLM led the styling of the space as well as collaborated with Taylor Wimpey Central London on the building project itself.
