DAMIANI HOLZ & KO OFFICE BY MODUS ARCHITECTS

Wave-like wooden panels renew the image of a construction firm

Modus Architects recently finished the beautiful renovation of the Damiani Holz & KO office located in Bressanone, Italy. The Italian architecture firm won a competition to design the new headquarters of the Italian construction firm, but also to redefine the company’s identity. A challenge duly managed thanks to the idea of wave-like wooden panels covering the facade.

When you think about a construction firm, the first thing that comes to mind isn’t really refinement and finesse. However, that’s exactly what this new headquarter conveys. The choice of a warm and noble material, but also the beautiful, undulating design, are an invitation inside this lovely building. It also breaks any image of inflexibility and softens the squareness of the building’s original shape.

Inside, things get even better. Each room uses a differently shaped ceiling, but continuity with the outdoor design is kept through the use of the same warm wood. The geometrical patterns of the wooden ceiling are only reminiscent of the facade’s cladding and further emphasize the image of a modern and creative company that you wouldn’t necessarily associate with a construction firm.

Modus Architects accomplished something worthwhile with this office space. They created both an original and interesting design while conveying the strong and modern values of an Italian construction firm, thus remodeling their image and what they want to convey to the world.
