CUT ARCHITECTURES BRINGS MIAMI TO THE MARAIS

A dose of South Florida styling for the third location for PNY hamburgers

PNY (Paris New York) is a Parisian burger chain that recently opened its third location in the city’s Marais district. For the previous two locations, Paris-based firm Cut Architectures reinforced the idea of a transatlantic fusion with Broadway cinema lights, stainless steel, exposed brick and tessellations. But for the third time around, the architects took a trip to Miami.

The interior adopts colors reminiscent of Miami’s Art Deco architecture with a framework of turquoise and pink lacquered steel tubes outlining stairwells and benches. White metal mesh and planks of wood solidify the steel scaffolding into a modern, minimal reinterpretation of traditional diner booths. They are the backbone of the beach-meets-diner ambiance, running together in straight lines, intersections and right angles.

Adorning the walls are deconstructed palm trees made from three-tone wooden tiles that are set against gradients of turquoise and pink. The ground floor’s terrazzo flooring also picks up the color scheme by mixing pink and turquoise glass with white marble.

Mirrors and neon are the principal element that ties the third PNY to its predecessors. White neon tubes underlines the interior’s overall tubular structure, while mirrors and white lacquered surfaces play with light and volume. Custom copper fixtures and carousel light bulbs illuminate the rest of the space.
