CULTURAL CENTER IN MULHOUSE, FRANCE

Paul le Quernec's creation for the northern French city

Good-bye, Paris! Paul Le Quernec is putting Mulhouse on the map! His new cultural center, located in a disadvantaged part of the city, is part of a larger refurbishment effort that will eventually include a park, plaza, playground and apartments. Despite a strict space allocation that could not impinge upon the other envisioned public amenities, the architect created a sense of volume with the façade’s geometric angles and bright colors. The striking color scheme and geometric intrigue continue in the interior of the building, which was carefully designed to be a versatile building for community use and a true symbol of the neighborhood’s renaissance.
