CASA NO MORRO DO QUEROSENE BY GRUPOSP
A Brazilian home that plays perfectly with transparency
The Casa No Morro Do Querosene by Brazilian architecture firm grupoSP is not a new kid on the block, but we’re still completely enamored. How could we not be? That giant wall of books is probably the most magnificent display on which we’ve ever laid eyes. We can only hope that they also have a ladder that slides back and forth, but we’re probably just getting our hopes up.
Perched on a hillside in São Paulo, Brazil, the house is situated three meters below street level on a large lot that allowed the architects to treat the house as an open space. Bedrooms, washrooms and the kitchen are all situated in a parallel block that allows for essential privacy, but the central space is an empty living canvas that takes place in view of the street.
The structure of the house is reduced to masonry walls and concrete with sheets of glass and white Portuguese stone to fill the gaps. Clean and simple. Just as we like it.
