AROUND FIREPLACE BY RUETEMPLE

A Russian attic transformation

Russian architects Ruetemple put one of our biggest nightmares to an end by transforming a dark and gloomy attic into a light and cozy studio in Moscow. Around Fireplace is nested under the mansard roof of a 3-storey house. The place used to be a neglected and dusty storage places before Ruetemple intervened.

To counterbalance the original essence of the place, the focus of the project was comfort. In fact, the whole purpose of the project was to reverse the image of what the attic might have been before: dark, cold and dusty. By using light wood, large windows and the central fireplace that gives the space a purpose, the Russian architecture firm literally blew the memory old attic to pieces.

The new elements that compose the interior of the new attic convey a brand new vibe. Around Fireplace now looks like a chalet, a warm nest in which you could take refuge during the coldest days of the Muscovite winter. As a matter of fact, Around Fireplace is even different from the interior of the rest of the house. It’s a nest under the roof destined to relaxation and warmth.
