sono architects organizes contemporary slovenian home in a triangular composition

sono architects have shared their latest residential project ‘house PS’ based in slovenia.

the family home explores the use of sustainable materials and maximizing natural light in order to support the users daily lives. simultaneously, the home is equipped with a functional floor plan and a contemporary envelope, resulting in an architectural scheme appropriate for its landscape.

the construction uses mostly timber, adding texture to the otherwise monochromatic façade. the main concept is based on three volumes that are organized in a triangular and overlapping composition. the ground floor features a dynamic, curved plan with two wings, meanwhile sitting on top, is the rectangular first floor realized as a gable-like roof, which references the traditional buildings in rural slovenia.

the living room and dining areas are the main spaces which offer the most natural light and promotes the intimate ambiance the clients asked for. following a mostly grey color palette; wooden flooring, window frames and detailing give the spacious interiors warmth. a prominent staircase ties the two floors together, leading up to the longitudinal floor-plan with a master bedroom and two children’s room.

a grey and white color scheme has been chosen throughout
