#RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURE PROJECTS
akasaka shinichiro forms japanese residence using intersecting angles
the layout of ‘N residence’ – designed by hokkaido-based studio akasaka shinichiro atelier – traces the path of a river which previously flowed through the site.
based on a corner plot, the client requested the property to face south, and simultaneously frame the surrounding japanese red pines.
the architecture is formed by two diagonal planes; where the angles diverge, this forms the core hall space with high ceilings. this angularity has translated into the ceiling of the interiors, where the designers have decided place skylights and windows to encourage ventilation, while maximizing natural light. timber has been used throughout the interior: on the outer edges of the large glass windows, to the flooring of the lower ground floor.
