Prototype design lab has conceived the ‘manitou lodge’ for a family who loves to cook, eat and entertain

the toronto-based studio’s scheme for the cottage retreat has been planned for a lifestyle that is based around the kitchen — the centrepiece of the residence. the social space has been developed with a restaurant kitchen in mind, bringing the industrial together with intimacy expressed through stainless steel surfaces, contrasted by eclectic modern, vintage fixtures.

these details include pendant lamps, floating glass shelves, marble counter tops and blackened steel-framed chalkboard panels acting as cabinet doors; enhanced by warm elements such as a reclaimed barn wood wall and ceiling fixture, alongside a table made from reclaimed wine crates. the palette of the ‘manitou lodge’ suggests a classic, but contemporary space, which offers the comforts and amenities of a fine dining establishment.
