A rotating timber screen fronts HYLA architects' primrose avenue home

Designed by HYLA architects, this 3-storey terraced house in singapore has a distinctive rotating screen on its front elevation that serves to deflect wind

The panel’s cross section has an aerodynamic boomerang shape that diverts strong breezes, while the other side is clad with timber to ensure required privacy at different times of the day.

the dynamic nature of the device also lends the façade an ever-changing pattern that corresponds with the mood of its users. internally, the lower level features high ceilings, while good cross ventilation is ensured thanks to a courtyard garden at the rear of the property. the staircase has a particular triangular cross section and remains well lit with a skylight positioned directly above.
