LEVENBETTS splits vast east coast beach house into three wings

provided with just over a quarter of an acre of land, new york–based firm LEVENBETTS has conceived a vast family beach house sited in amagansett, new york.

measuring at 8,000 square feet, the spatial organization is split into three wings that are programmed to accommodating recreation, entertaining and living. with a driveway that winds underneath the cantilever, a generous garage facilitates to the client’s motor collection which has been separated from everything else.

at the ground level, the three wings divide into a living, kitchen and garage; whereas the second floor is divided into a guest spaces, a children’s and parent’s bedrooms. where the three wings intersect, this has established an outdoor sun deck / evening movie watching amphitheater that doubles as steps up to the roof deck with views to the ocean. meanwhile at the ground level, the space below the amphitheater is the drive through breezeway providing access to the garage and auto courtyard.

the envelope itself is clad in concrete panels which is complemented with windows installed with perforated aluminum screens for sun shading and privacy. internally, concrete continues to be the main material with white oak floors and cabinets. at each end of the generous property, the building cantilevers out off of its first floor base to produce a shaded porch space underneath.
