Lush new neighborhood in London will feature 37 timber-clad homes in a long green row

Design studio pH+ architects were granted planning permission to build a garden-like neighborhood with 37 new timber-clad homes on a brownfield site in Acton, West London. Rosebank Works will include houses of varying heights and typologies, integrated into lush green spaces. The project will replace existing lightweight industrial buildings that currently occupy the site.

The neighborhood will function as a linear park of high-quality houses and apartments located on a wedge-shaped site alongside the Great Western Railway in London. It will frame the southerly views of a green area that will become part of the Crossrail route, scheduled to open in 2019. The apartment blocks are designed to step in and out of one another to break down the scale of the new development whilst creating both private and communal areas in the remaining external areas.

Timber hardwood will be used as the main exterior cladding material to reflect the meandering garden design concept for the site. To contrast the natural feel of the area and introduce more detail, metallic finish will be used for the circulation areas and walkways.
