#RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURE PROJECTS
studio lape brings the sea to a lithuanian suburb with jachta house
lithuanian studio lape’s ‘jachta’ (yacht) residence translates their client’s love of sailing into a highly individualized structure in a forested suburb. a direct reflection of personal tastes, the project is defined by plentiful access to fresh air, water, and natural light with an expansive sense of space amicable to the nautical lifestyle.
massive windows and a pool deck nearly as large act as dominate architectural elements, both of which seek to emphasize the connection between interior and exterior. inside, rooms are arranged according to the client’s specific lifestyle and habits. rather than being decided by the architect, the ‘jachta’ program is consistent and logical according solely to the homeowner.
private quarters are located in areas of the home almost invisible to guests. spaces which are most pleasant in certain lighting conditions (morning, evening, etc.) are placed accordingly; forming in its totality a home that is functional, yet comfortable and welcoming regardless of time or season. white walls, soft maple tones, anodized aluminum, and plenty of ocean blues give ‘jachta’ a distinct visual and emotional identity that perfectly represents the seafaring life.
