do architects develop a new rolling home concept

Lithuanian practice do architects is currently developing a residential concept called the ‘rolling home’.

Situated in an ideal environment on a green plain next to the ocean in svencelė, lithuania, the housing prototype departs from the traditional orthogonal-walled constructs and introduces a new form of living within the infinitely cyclical circle.

the wood-clad sectional pipes are oriented in the same direction with the transverse facades featuring full glass curtain walls allowing views of the landscape. the evolving floor plan has been distilled to three efficiently organized levels: an entry area on the ground floor inset from the edge of the structure to create a covered porch, a second story social area including living, dining, and kitchen, and the top subdivided floors containing the bedrooms which enjoy the longest views out to the horizon. from one axis, the structures are solids that offer privacy while from the perpendicular axis are characterized by full transparency. their modular nature allows them to be located virtually anywhere, creating between them an informal grid adaptable to a range of social and environmental contexts.
