#RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURE PROJECTS

malin persson envisions colorful student housing project in stockholm

although new housing units are needed in stockholm, it is difficult to find vacant lots that can supplement urban development.

In response to this idea, malin persson has developed a project for student housing in an area on the outskirts of the city center.

the concept is located within the constraints of a small, narrow site next to a rock dividing wall. the façade is defined by strips of glazing whose rhythm is randomly disrupted by diagonal portions of pink and yellow. this manipulation is further exacerbated by bay windows that protrude outwards above the street. the gestures result in the creation of exterior occupiable areas where residents can have their own place sit and relax while a large roof terrace provides room for more communal gathering. meanwhile, modes of circulation such as stairwells and elevators have been pushed towards the rear of the building, filtering towards the pedestrian level through the garage.
