Bosco Verticale

Bosco Verticale© (Vertical Forest) is a reforestation project that helps to regenerate the underground environment and urban biodiversity without implying an expansion of the city in the area, a new model of densification in height with green and built within the city.

Vertical Forest connects to the policies for reforestation and naturalization of the edges of the large urban and metropolitan areas ( the Metroboschi ) : two devices of environmental survival , two ways to rebuild a relationship between nature and cities in the area and in the cities of contemporary Europe. The first example of a Bosco Verticale composed of two towers of 110 and 76 meters , will be built in the center of Milan, in the Porta Nuova project on the edge of the Isola neighborhood , and will host 900 trees ( up to nine meters high ) as well as numerous shrubs and flowering plants . In terms of the amount of trees Bosco Verticale in Milan is equivalent to a forest area of about 10,000 square meters. Throughout the area, the equivalent area in houses would be equal to 50,000 square meters. Bosco Verticale is a system that optimizes , recuperates and produces energy . The Vertical Forest helps build a microclimate and to filter particulate matter in the urban environment . The diversity of plants and their characteristics produce humidity , absorb CO2 and dust , produce oxygen , protect the irradiation and acoustic pollution , improving the comfort of living and saving energy. The irrigation of the plants will be to a large extent through a centralized filtration dell'acque gray . Additionally, an area of 500 square meters of solar panels and systems that make use of geothermal energy are some of the eco-innovation that presents the project . The management of green in the Bosco Verticale will be centralized and entrusted to an agency that will have an open door to the public. Each " cell" maintenance of the vertical can in fact be used for the collection and dissemination of data needed to evaluate over time the ecological functionality of the system: a know-how transmittable and disclosable , that grows and evolves together with the Vertical Forest .
