These amazing, affordable modern shepherd huts can be moved wherever you want

Whether you need an extra room, a secluded office space or simply a place to relax and enjoy nature, this mobile, contemporary version of a shepherd's hut will definitely deliver. The tiny, mobile structures are designed and built by Thomas Alabaster, who is based in Suffolk, England. They have the appearance of typical gabled-roof houses and feature full-length skylights that let natural light wash into the interior.

Alabaster came up with the design as a way to enjoy English summers, watch wildlife and read. His idea stemmed from the concept of the classic tiny shepherd’s huts used in the 19th and 20th century by shepherds during sheep raising and lambing. Staying true to the original concept of small hideaways, Alabaster’s versions reminds of typical gabled-roof houses with one important improvement: the apex of the roof is truncated to accommodate a long skylight. Also, the Contemporary Shepherd Hut can be towed to any location accessible by car.

The hut features a small kitchen with a two-burner stove, an overhead rack storage and a pocket door. The bathroom is more spacious than typical trailer bathrooms. Bathed in natural light, the interior can be customized to fit different needs and include a small veranda. According to the official website, the hut costs about $20,000 to construct.
