This Trendy Japanese Store is Set in a 1970s Swimming Pool!

You might not know it at first glance, but this Japanese store was once a swimming pool!

The Pool Aoyama is a unique nautical-themed concept shop set in a pool originally built in the 1970s. Designed by Nobuo Araki from The Archetype and DJ-turned-fashion-guru Hiroshi Fujiwara, this brilliant space has retained much of its original character and charm.

The Pool Aoyama sells nautical clothing and accessories in a restored swimming pool located within a vintage residential building. Set in the trendy shopping area of Aoyama, its owned by the grandfather of Harajuku fashion, Hiroshi Fujiwara. The restored building features a glass platform that references the water that once covered the pool’s floor.

The architects opted to preserve the pool’s look and feel by making only subtle adjustments to the space. Filled with a soft natural, the store sells clothes and accessories casually displayed throughout its interiors. There’s no doubt that The Pool Aoyamaprovides an extraordinary shopping experience.
