Curvaceous Green Walls Lure Visitors Into This Fresh-Baked Cheese Tart Store in Yokohama

Design Atelier RONDO recently completed the interior of PABLO's new curvaceous cheese tarts shop in the Hyogo area of Yokohama.

Partly covered by lush green plants, the curved and flowing walls in the shop were inspired by the churning and mixing involved in the cheese pastry baking process. The Yokohama-based store is the latest location for the PABLO cheese tarts chain, which has a series of stores opening throughout Japan, some of which also designed by RONDO.

PABLO’s new Yokohama store combines the bakery and retail component with a cafe seating area in the back. Customers are able to watch the process of making of the fluffy cheese tarts at the front of the store before enjoying them in the back room. A warm palette of exposed brick and orange and yellow-tinted wood paneling create an inviting atmosphere.

By building a series of curved wall elements, RONDO created a dramatic tunnel-like effect that creates an illusion of depth. To add a lush green texture and softness to the interior, plants were vertically attached to some of curved wall elements and beneath the countertop.
